Speaker terms application against Shahbaz as baseless

LAHORE: Punjab Assembly Speaker Rana Muhammad Iqbal on Tuesday said that the application regarding the disqualification of Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif was not able to be forwarded to the Election Commission and it should be considered as rejected, Geo News reported on Tuesday. Speaking to media outside the Punjab Assembly, he said that the application against the Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif was baseless as his name was not mentioned in Asghar Khan case verdict. The Speaker said that Raja Riaz plea over the dual nationality had also proved as wrong. Opposition Leader Raja has filed the application with the Speaker that a reference be sent to Election Commission for the disqualification of Shahbaz Sharif for his alleged involvement in Asgahr Khan case.
