SHC moved to review bike-riding ban

KARACHI: The Sindh Home Department has filed a petition in the Sindh High Court (SHC) to review the court’s earlier decision to remove the ban on motorcycle riding till 11th Muharrum.
The Home Department’s request comes after an improvised explosive device planted on a motorcycle near an Imam Bargah in Abbas Town Karachi exploded on Sunday, killing two and injuring several others.
Interior Minister Rehman Malik had imposed a ban on motorcycle riding on the 1st of Muharrum in Karachi and Quetta citing a terror threat.
Shortly after, the Sindh High Court suspended this order and Chief Justice Sindh High court Mushir Alam termed the Interior Ministry’s order unlawful.
The petition was filed by Sindh High Court Bar Association President Anwar Mansoor Khan.
