KARACHI: Flour price all across Sindh has gradually increased by more than Rs3 per kilo since June till this day, while sugar price also seen hiking in the market adding to the woes of the consumers, Geo News reported.
Sindh Flour Mills Association said that one 100 kilo bag wheat price has peaked at Rs3000, resulting in the increase of 50 kilo bag of flour price to Rs1660 from Rs1620.
On the other hand, food department sources said it has been decided to sell government wheat to the flour mills against their quota at Rs2850 per bag of 100 kilogram for which the challans being issued to the mill owners from October 3 and with the increased supplies from government reserves, stability in wheat price could be seen.
Experts said that the government wheat selling price as compared to previous year rose by about Rs350 per 100 kilogram due to increase in the wheat purchase support price by the federal government in previous season.
Besides despite sufficient availability of sugar from current season, the ex-mill price of sugar in Sindh was seen hiked by Rs3 in three days, resulting in the sugar wholesale price going beyond Rs50 per kilo.
