Operations no perfect solution to terrorism: Abbas

KARACHI: Former DG ISPR, Maj Gen (Retd) Athar Abbas said only military operations cannot provide a solution to the scourge of terrorism and underscored the need to apply political, social and economic means to achieve this goal.
During his visit here to Expo Centre where International Exhibition of arms and equipment 'IDEAS 2012' is underway, Athar Abbas said although a great amount of success is achieved in places where a military operation is conducted, yet an operation remains incomplete till the fulfillment of the political, social and economic obligations.
However, he added, that the army had played a significant role in providing facilities of education, health and other amenities in many areas including Swat and districts of Balochistan.
