Malala: Youm-e-Dua being observed today

PESHAWAR/LAHORE: The nation is observing Youm-e-Dua today for early recovery of Malala Yusufzai who was seriously injured in a terrorist attack in Sawat. One minute silence will also be observed at 12:00 noon in this regard.
Malala Yusufzai has been shifted to Armed Forces Institute of Cardiology in Rawalpindi. She is on ventilator in the children's ITC.
DG ISPR has said next 24 hours are important for the life of Malala. He said surgery has been done to lessen the swelling in her brain, adding that the best doctors of the world were treating Malala.
Meanwhile, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Information Minister Mian Iftikhar Hussain told the media on Thursday that all mosques in the province have been requested to hold special prayers for Malala after Friday prayers. The prayers will be held for Malala’s “complete” recovery, he added.
“I say complete recovery because when the brain is damaged, there are a lot of possibilities of disabilities even if the life is safe… So I appeal for prayers for the complete recovery of Malala and her injured friends,” he said.
On the other hand, Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif has appealed to the nation to observe Friday (today) as Youm-e-Dua for the early recovery of young peace activist Malala Yousafzai. He said special prayers for Malala’s early recovery would be offered in government offices, educational institutions, PML-N offices, mosques and worships places of minorities throughout the province.
Shahbaz said that the nation was proud of Malalah and prayed to the Allah Almighty for her early recovery. He further said that the nation’s image had been badly tarnished throughout the world by the misguided elements, who attacked Malalah.
The shooting of Malala on a school bus in the Swat valley has been denounced worldwide and by the Pakistani authorities. The K-P government has also offered a reward of Rs10 million for anyone who identifies the attackers.
Two of her school friends were also injured in the attack, carried out as retribution for Malala’s campaign for the right to an education during a two-year Taliban insurgency in Swat that the army claimed to have crushed in 2009.
